The main strategic priority of the Years Ahead Work Plan (2012-13) is Achieving an Age Friendly North East. Years Ahead has committed to prioritising 3 key associated themes to achieve the strategic aim:

• Material Deprivation – The Forum plans to work with national Government to convene a Task and Finish group to explore the new Index of Material Deprivation in the North East.
• Tackling Attitudes to Ageing – Contributing to and influencing the work of the national Ageing Alliance’s working group on ‘Attitudes to Ageing’.
• Local engagement of older people in the North East – Raising the aspirations of older people in relation to developing their voice and influence in policy and decision making in both local and national government activities.

Activity will include Focus and Task Groups, consultation responses and campaigning activities.
