Years Ahead has its administrative office based in the Institute for Ageing and Health (IAH) at Newcastle University.  The IAH is one of Europe’s leading centres for research on ageing, with work ranging from the basic biological mechanisms of ageing, through the major clinical disorders of later life, to social gerontology and areas such as housing for older people.  The Institute receives major long-term funding from a number of Research Councils and is developing the 'Campus for Ageing and Vitality' on the Newcastle General Hospital site.  Our aim is to use this synergy between Years Ahead and the IAH to increase substantially the involvement of older people in the prioritisation, design, implementation and dissemination of research.

The chair of Years Ahead is Professor Jim Edwardson, former Director of the Institute for Ageing and Health

The vice chair is Mrs Elsie Richardson, representing NE-OPAG.
